Yoga ~ Individual Session and small group

Hatha, Viniyoga, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Alignment, Slow pace, Restorative Yoga Methodology

Working One –on-One (or in small group like Couples add $30 to the following pricing) with a Yoga teacher can help you develop a personal practice, increase your awareness of how your body moves and help you   understand what Yoga and Meditation is all about.   In a group class the teacher can not give full attention to an individuals need, as much as one-on-one offers.  Since for group classes the focus is on the group all at once.

Yin Yoga Methodology Key Elements:

.  Come into the pose to an appropriate depth for you body.

.  Resolve to remain still in the pose, as much as possible, relax mind/body and practice deep breathing.

.  Hold the pose for period of time 3, 5 up to 10 minutes

ViniYoga Methodology Key Elements:

· Use of repetition into and out of postures in addition to holding postures, so one becomes aware of how they move.

· The science of adapting the forms of the postures to achieve different results (functions).

· Emphasis on breath as the medium for movement in and out of asana (posture), which creates a meditative movement.

·  The refined art and science of combination, which enables the development of sequences suited to the intention and context of each person’s goal.

Hatha Yoga Methodology Key Elements:

. Sun Salutations and warm up sequences, standing series, leg balances, seated poses, floor work, etc.

.  The practice can be  Vinyasa/Flow style or working with holding the poses for 10-20 breaths practicing body alignment cues

.  Stronger poses (arm balances, inversions) may be added in sequence if desired.

.  Hatha Yoga Practice includes traditional Yoga poses for strength/flexibility and breath work.

Meditation Practice:

.  This can be completely separate from the above noted Yoga practice or we can build meditation practice into the Yoga practice.   Traditionally Yoga poses are used to prep the mind and body for Long meditation practices

.   I use several different meditation practices and techniques….   Color, holding crystal/natural stone,  watching breath, chant/mantra,  Silent, guided visual, candle gazing, sound healing, twin hearts, etc.

10 Great Reasons Why People Choose Private Yoga Instruction

  1. Proper foundation -Learn accurate postures from the start and develop awareness and alertness to cues so you can move your body safely in any class.

  2. Customized -A curriculum designed with your specific needs in mind based on your body type.  Not everyone is meant to do what you see in the magazines.

  3. Safety -Learn modifications that make sense for your body and gain a deeper knowledge of body movement, preventing injury in less alignment-focused classes.

  4. Recovery – If you have an injury or health limitation, take a private to learn how to modify and to work with poses specifically that will aid in your recovery.

  5. Environment– You dislike the gym, prefer a more peaceful environment, or don’t like sweaty yoga rooms. Lucky for you Yoga is easy to take anywhere – your room, your deck, your roof, or outdoors!

  6. Convenience - Pick a time and place that is best for you.  No stress and hassle about where to go, park and how much time you have. You also can eliminate worries about not getting the space you want in a packed class.

  7. Beginner/New Style –If you are not sure how to get started or you want to try a new style of Yoga, begin with a sequence that’s customized for you and your body so you can begin a practice with safety and effectiveness. Learn pose names for more advanced classes and learn the philosophy that accompanies it.

  8. Privacy – Eliminate any fear, intimidation or self-consciousness that you might experience in a yoga studio, focusing on your needs first.

  9. Honor Your Body Approach – Yoga is a total mind, body, spirit approach.  We practice to create space in the mind, reduce stress and build strength in the body through development of self-awareness and compassion.

  10. Next Level – If you feel you’ve reached a plateau or you are not progressing as you might have wished, find out why.  As you develop your practice over time, you will need to respond to the changes in your body. Find out how to do this effectively.

  • Home Practice Development: Students frequently want to practice yoga more often than they can come to group classes. Practicing at home is a useful and cost effective supplement to group classes at the studio. A home practice consultation includes evaluation of your personal goals, proper sequencing, how to make your practice consistent, and a written practice plan. Jessa guides you through the practice once so you leave familiar with how to practice on your own safely and effectively. Home practice consultations are most effective when done in conjunction with group yoga classes.

  • Personalized Yoga Coaching: Group class students frequently benefit from personalized help to deepen their yoga practice. Coaching sessions include feedback on how to properly perform yoga postures and adaptations for the client’s individual goals and body. Students who have attended coaching sessions report that the sessions help them make huge strides in improving their yoga practice.

  • Special Needs Instruction: Some individuals have needs that are not met by group classes.  Jessa works one on one with students who have a variety of needs. Examples of past client issues include: stress management, meditation, prenatal yoga, limited mobility  – chair Yoga.
